House 2

This section was a funny shape. We really wanted to make best use of the section, especially allowing for the outdoor living to be facing the views of the Hakarimata range. So Tess spent a while thinking out how to manage the shape, putting the bedroom area to one corner of the section and the garage to the top corner of the section, with living joining the two.

We'd seen a picture of a hidden door on a wall of wooden paneling and decided that would be the big feature in this home. So, the front door opened onto a paneled wall that hid the extra living area and fallowed down the steps to the next section of the home. We loved it.

The other great thing about this property which took some negotiating around truss design was the open ceiling in the living area. Since we built our own first home with open trusses we know that it just makes rooms feel more open and it is something we aim to do when we design homes.

Like House 1 this home also has five bedrooms to cater for bigger families. Unfortunately I never captured a picture of the outdoor area with grass and its view. It was private, yet felt open.
