The Ranch

We were so lucky in our first home. Looking over the Waikato river. Our first experience with residential building was reasonably smooth. As always, slower than expected, but reasonably straightforward apart from a little difficulty with the draftsperson not being terribly experienced and not making some of the best choices, but that was excellent learning for our future.  Simon organised everything. We hadn't long met and been engaged when we began the process. We were married two months after we moved in. It was a busy year. We were also pretty busy after that as we had a baby the next year, and the next and the next. This house served us well and holds many memories for us.

Technically there were three bedrooms, an office and a play room as well as the living area. We used the office as a bedroom after we had our third. The bathroom had an old claw foot bath Simon found on trademe and had sandblasted, then he painted at his work.

We only left this home after we'd done the subdivision of the acre of residential land that came with it. So the property really did bless us with a lot, a beautiful home to bring our children up in and land to turn into a profit, but we were interested in moving out of residential and into a lifestyle block that had a great 1970s home and land for a future dream house down by the river.

But I'll leave you with pictures to show you just what a dream first home it was...
