The Lodge
The lodge is on the property we bought right next to our home. Initially it means more space for beef and mutton. We are keeping it for now, renting it out. It is a solid farmhouse that just needed a bit of paint, carpet, a new bathroom and kitchen. We also took a wall out where the Laundry was to create an extra living area. The Laundry was easily put in a cupboard beside the kitchen.
The kitchen was a simple tidy up with new cabinets and benchtops, but we left the pantry, just giving it a quick paint.
The laundry and the little room beside it weren't very user friendly so we combined them to give the place an extra living area that faces the view which the main living area doesn't.

In the bathroom we did take out the bath as it was really cramped before this and the toilet was in an odd spot.
The bedrooms just needed some old patterns removed and less decorative carpet to bring them into the 21st Century.
Simon updated the back porch by adding some shelter. With the harsh NZ sun we think that outdoor living is an essential part of renovations nowadays.
On an extra note in 2022 the barn on this property went up in flames when the next door neighbour lit a huge bonfire nearby.
